This unique piece was built with slabs of raku clay to form a sort of triangular vase and glazed with a blue/red raku glaze. The glaze developed this intriguing bubble effect during firing, leaving the piece looking like it was made out of rock or rusted iron. Some of my classmates suggested that it looked like something you would find on Mars. The sculpture is 5 1/2" tall and about 5 1/2" in diameter. It was featured in the Mary Baldwin Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition in April 2006.
