Japanese Plant (Watercolor Painting)

Regular price $200.00

A branch of an ivy-like plant and a sprig of voluminous golden yellow flowers share a dainty, simple ceramic cup on a white background.

This piece was done in watercolor and pencil on rag paper, measuring 7" x 11", and signed and dated by me in pencil on the back. Edges are rough and ragged (as opposed to straight/even, sharply cut ones). This is a one-of-a-kind original painting done from a photograph that I took myself.

I took this photo when I was in Japan during a very informal tea ceremony. I have no idea what kind of plant this is, or if it is even Japanese (I call it "Japanese Plant" because I encountered it in Japan...but I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable about plants). Honestly I was more attracted by the sweet little ceramic vase holding it - but I also love the contrast between the bright, full yellow flowers on the right and the winding sliver of the ivy-like plant on the left.
