Iris (Print)

Regular price $15.00

Designed from a watercolor painting that I did myself, this lovely print pays homage to Iris, Greek goddess of rainbows.

Iris, in addition to ruling over rainbows, was a messenger of the gods, and as such had a free pass into Hades (the Greek underworld/one of the Greek afterlife realms) sans consequences (hence her relation to Halloween/fall and my inclusion of her in my mini-series of Fall goddesses...). She also lends her name to several multi-colored things, such as iris the flower, iris the colored part of the eye, and the word iridescent. (Oddly enough, what I've read about her definitely reports that she had gold wings, and her sister had iridescent ones...)

The original piece was done in watercolor and pencil on rag paper, measuring 11 x 7".

This print (THIS LISTING IS FOR THE PRINT, NOT THE ACTUAL PAINTING) measures 8" X 12" (the painting has a 1/2" white border). It is a lovely reproduction of the original work, on photo matte paper. This listing is for the print only, no frame or matting will be included. It will be shipped in a plastic sleeve and sturdy cardboard mailer.
