Azalea Poison Flowers (Drawing) (Print)

Regular price $10.00

This drawing is part of my "poison flowers" honeybee series and features the following quote:
"Even bees, the little almsmen of spring bowers, know there is richest juice in poison-flowers."
-John Keats

Azaleas (and more famously rhododendrons) are so highly toxic that even honey made from their nectar is toxic. In ancient times this was sometimes used purposefully to weaken one's enemies. These flowers were once used as a death threat when sent in a black vase (hence their presentation in my drawing).

The original piece is done in colored pencil on strathmore sketch paper, measuring 6" x 8 1/2". This is a one-of-a-kind original drawing.

This print (THIS LISTING IS FOR THE PRINT, NOT THE ACTUAL DRAWING) measures 6" X 8 1/2". It is a lovely reproduction of the original work, on photo matte paper. This listing is for the print only, no frame or matting will be included. It will be shipped in a plastic sleeve and sturdy cardboard mailer.

20% of the proceeds for each bee print will be donated to The Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees. ($2 will be donated for this print)
