Atropos [Greek] “unturning” “inevitable”
Daughter of Erebus and Nyx, one of the three Moirai/Fates. The oldest sister who cut the thread of life with her “abhorred shears,” shares an eye with her sisters. Associated with death, the future, and controlling a person’s fate. Lends her name to Atropa Belladonna (aka Deadly Nightshade; a highly toxic plant), atropine (an alkaloid found in several poisonous plants), and Acherontia Atropos (the most well known species of Death’s-head Hawk moth).

The original piece was done in watercolor and pencil on rag paper, measuring 11 x 7".

This print (THIS LISTING IS FOR THE PRINT, NOT THE ACTUAL PAINTING) measures 8" X 12" (the painting has a 1/2" white border). It is a lovely reproduction of the original work, on photo matte paper.
