A Swarm of Bees in May (Fairy) (Note Card)

Regular price $5.00

This card features Maia, the May fairy, cuddling a small bale of hay (a little weird, I know, but she's a strange fairy). It is inspired by a quote I found (and my love of honeybees):

A swarm of bees in May
Is worth a load of hay;
A swarm of bees in June
Is worth a silver spoon;
A swarm of bees in July
Is not worth a fly.
-An Old English Ditty

It's part of a small drawn mini-series (featuring Bridget-Julia/February-July) done in prismacolor colored pencil.

A tidbit about Maia:
Maia is one of the 13 fairies that I made up once upon a time (ha ha, no pun intended...ish) when I was a composing a (as of yet and probably perpetually) unfinished story about Sleeping Beauty. There's one for every month, plus one extra. They have all sorts of alliances and suchlike and are at war, and elemental, and all have weird names that are vaguely associated with their month names, function, or holidays therein.
Maia is the fairy of May. She's pretty neutral as far as faerie alliances go, following in Mellie's (November) wake a little. Her name is drawn from Maia, a Greek goddess who put the stars in the sky, which gives her a kind of dreamy far off quality that wildly contrasts with the themes of Beltaine, the major holiday in her month.

Oh yeah and card details, for people who care about that sort of thing:
Cards are approximately 5 1/2" by 4 1/4", and come with a slightly larger envelope to put them in (although there is a stamp on the one in the photos there will be no stamp on the one you receive; it is just for reference). This one is also blank on the inside, so that you may fill it with the message of your choice!
